Some more pictures of NZ!

Brian & I standing in front of Mount Ruapehu in the Tongariro National Park
View across Lake Taupo

This is "Tane Mahuta" King of the Forest in the Waipoua State Forest - a Kauri Tree (you might be able to see the 3 people standing at the base of the tree) estimated to be 1200 years old with a girth of 13.77m and a total height of 51.51m!

The Champagne Pool at Wai-O-Tapu - a spring being 65m in diameter and 62m deep. Surface temperature is 74°c and the bubbles (which you can't quite make out in the photo) are due to carbon dioxide.

"The Devil's Bath" - also at the Wai-O-Tapu geothermal area. The pool is actually this colour - and is the result of excess water from the Champagne Pool mixing with sulphur and ferrous salts! Slight colour changes result from the amount of reflected light and cloud cover!
